Home Bar- Building the Perfect One
It always amazes me how much the presence of a home bar draws people. Despite the fact that I spend my days working behind one, when I arrive at someone’s home for a social event, I am always pleasantly surprised if they have a home bar set up, and immediately feel the need to check it out.
As I make my way over for a much needed drink, I reflect on what my ideal home bar set up would be. A bar is always the center piece of any party or get together, as this is where the masses will gather for conversation and the all important, “grab a drink”.
Whether simple or complex, a bar should be aesthetically pleasing, comfortable, entertaining and functionally easy to use, for it will serve many purposes. Everything should be within arms reach, and readily available. A well stocked bar, in all aspects, will definitely impress your friends.
On this topic we will write multiple segments, and plan to discuss what it will take to build your own bar. The information provided will hopefully be very helpful in designing a home bar or your own “Night Club”, as the basics are the same.
We will break this up into different categories as there are many aspects needed to have a “successful” bar such as; the basic structure, which includes, plumbing, electrical, what your bar will be made of, seating and flooring. We will also discuss the essentials like appliances, glassware needed, bar supplies (replenishable and permanent), lighting, entertainment, and the all important alcohol and mix needed.
Everything of course will be according to each individual’s taste and will/should never be the same. We’re all different and so are our friends, they have different needs and you need to know what that is, or at least be prepared for it.
