When building a home bar, lighting and entertainment are important factors.

Entertainment

When it comes to building a home bar with entertainment , one thing comes to mind, “Who are you trying to impress.”  Mainly, what will you be using it for, watching sporting events, a little romantic dancing, loud obnoxious music, or even playing some video games.

So for building a home bar with entertainment, you might want to consider a TV, placed for all to see. Up high and out of the way. Make sure it’s a flat screen so it takes up less space on the wall, and large enough for all to see.

Grab a good quality CD player that can play a number of CD’s so you won’t have to keep changing them. Four speakers placed in all corners of the room should be a minimum at least, and be able to hook up to your TV for surround sound. Make sure it’s behind the bar, out of the way so no one messes with it.

Only takes one Drunk Jackass to break some of your expensive toys.

If you really want to add a little zing to your party, grab a Wii Game station. You’d be surprised how much entertainment this provides, especially after a few drinks.

Grab remotes for the TV and CD player and HIDE behind the bar.

Lighting

When building a home bar, ambiance will be created by the lighting you choose. Again this will depend on what type of entertainment you want to use your home bar for.

Have switches conveniently located behind the bar, under your control. Dimmer switches are the best as this adds to the mood.

Lighting should illuminate the necessities of the bar; such as the alcohol you will show, your beer and wine fridge, counter tops, any supplies needed, decorations you wish to show off and of course your guests.

When building a home bar brightness will depend on importance of each.

Try using pot lights or track lighting overhead. Rope lighting works well around the front of the bar to help show of the construction. Throw in some color for a different look.

So when building a home bar, lighting and entertainment are definitely something that requires a little thought. Make sure it’s noticable and fun.
